Who It’s For
This workshop is for you if you often recognise these patterns. You don’t need the perfect words, a clear plan, or years of experience with inner work — only a willingness to slow down, notice what happens inside you, and begin meeting this pattern differently.
The automatic yes
- Say yes before you’ve checked in with yourself
- Over-explain, apologise, or soften your truth
- Feel anxious when you set a boundary
Carrying others
- Feel responsible for how other people feel
- Avoid conflict, disappointment, or being disliked
- Feel resentment after giving too much
Losing yourself
- Find it hard to know what you want or need in the moment
- Lose yourself in relationships, family dynamics, work, or care roles
- Notice yourself abandoning your truth to stay connected
What You’ll Explore
During the workshop, we’ll explore the body-based roots of appeasing, over-giving, and self-abandonment.
- The difference between kindness and people pleasing
- Why people pleasing is not a personality flaw
- How the body learns to appease as a survival response
- The moments when your nervous system moves into pleasing before you can think
- The fear beneath the pattern, including rejection, conflict, abandonment, shame, or being unsafe
- How people pleasing disconnects you from anger, truth, desire, and boundaries
- How to recognise the early body signals of self-abandonment
- How to pause, regulate, and choose a different response
- What healing people pleasing can look like in real relationships
A grounded, body-based workshop
We won’t approach people pleasing as something to fix, force, or shame.
We’ll look at it as an intelligent adaptation that once helped you stay connected, accepted, or safe.
Through teaching, guided reflection, somatic awareness, gentle practices, and group exploration, you’ll begin to understand your own pleasing pattern from the inside out.
Staying connected to yourself
The focus is not on becoming harsh, detached, or selfish.
The focus is on building enough inner safety to stay connected to yourself while relating to others.
You’ll be invited to notice body signals, and practise creating more space between the impulse to please and the response you choose.
Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a clearer understanding of:
- Why you people please and what your body is trying to protect you from
- How to recognise the impulse before you automatically act on it
- What happens in your nervous system when you fear someone’s reaction
- How to slow down the pattern without judging yourself
- How to begin creating boundaries that feel more embodied and less performative
- How to return to your own needs, truth, and choice
- A more compassionate way to work with the parts of you that learned to stay safe by pleasing
A Trauma-Aware Space
People pleasing often begins as a protective response.
For many people, it’s connected to early experiences of needing to stay acceptable, useful, agreeable, quiet, impressive, or easy in order to feel safe or loved.
This workshop will hold that with care.
You won’t be asked to share anything you don’t want to share. You’ll be encouraged to move at your own pace, listen to your body, and take breaks if needed.
This workshop is educational and experiential. It’s not a replacement for therapy, crisis support, or one-to-one trauma treatment.
