Welcome to EmbodiMe

We are so happy to have you here.

The following are terms and conditions for the use of our services and products. Please take the time to read through them carefully and contact us with any questions you may have.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic Therapy with Liz McComish has unique terms and conditions of engagement that are sent to clients as part of the booking system.

Online Content

The online content is available to you to purchase as you choose to.

There is a subscription based membership, which has content accessible by members. The longer the member is subscribed, the more content they will accrue. Once a member cancels their membership, all their content is deleted. If they choose to resume a membership at a later date, they will start with the introductory content and need to accuse their content again.

There is a course/series based membership, which means that people buy individual courses/series as they choose to and have lifetime access to the content.

There are also occasional one-off workshops/retreats/talks/interviews. If these are recorded they will be available for lifetime access*. Occasionally they will not be recorded and in this case they will not be uploaded for lifetime access*.

*Lifetime means the lifetime in which the EmbodiMe website is operating.

Online Refund Policy

Refunds for online content purchases are available if the content is faulty* and that fault* is due to EmbodiMe issues. Faulty/fault means it is unable to be accessed/watched/is not available due to issues at EmbodiMe’s end.

Refunds are not available if you change your mind or decide, once you have watched the content, that you don’t want it any more.

When you are practising anything online, you will be without a teacher guiding you in person. This is wonderful as it can help you to go to a new depth in yourself. However, it is also worth thinking about how to take care of yourself should you have an injury, perhaps be triggered by as aspect of class or react in any way emotionally, mentally or physically.

All teachers are caring, well trained and brilliant at what they teach. They are also adept at teaching you how to trust yourself. So, please make sure you do. You are the best expert on you. If anything doesn’t feel right, don’t do it. If you need support, reach out for it. If you need a rest, take it. When you are practicing at home, your wellbeing is your responsibility. Please ensure you have a medical check before you start practising. If you are under therapeutic care (psychology, psychiatry, counselling, physiotherapy, chiropractic or any other health provider) please ensure you check with them before beginning a new practice.

Practise within your body’s range

Everyone’s body is unique: anatomically, mentally, emotionally. Please listen to your body in each of the classes and each of the poses. If you feel pain or discomfort, come out of the pose or modify it so you don’t hurt yourself. This is really important and forms the basis for developing a loving relationship with yourself – for becoming embodied.

Know your needs

Some days we feel full of life, exuberant, energised. Other days we can feel uninspired, exhausted, overwhelmed. Choose classes that suit your needs or maybe take a day off when you need to. If we want to move towards feeling empowered, the first place to start is to recognise and honour our own needs.

Organise your space

Most students tell us that if they have a dedicated yoga space in their house, they feel more motivated to join classes regularly and that this space helps them to be really present in the class. Ensure this space, or any space in which you practice, is safe for you to practice freely without injury. Ensure you have a good mat and props that support you effectively.

Medical support

It is recommended you get a medical examination before you begin with EmbodiMe and follow your doctor’s instructions.

Support person

It is great to have a support person who knows they are your support person – someone who you can call if you need help in any way – and know that they are available to you if you are practising yoga and need someone to help you for any reason.

Arriving late to class

We don’t mind if you are late to live classes and workshops; we understand that life doesn't always run to a timetable. However, it is your responsibility to follow your body’s needs for warming up. The teacher may not realise you are late and cannot adjust the class to suit.

Emotional release

Yoga can trigger emotional release. Many find that the release is lovely and they feel balanced and refreshed at the end of class. If, however, you feel after class like you are not coping with anything that has come up for you, please contact your support person. If they are not available for some reason, please reach out to a loved one or a support service such as Beyond Blue 1300 22 4636 or Lifeline 13 11 14 in Australia or, if you are practising in another country, please ensure you know who to call for support should that need arise.

Cost of classes, courses, workshops

All costs are outlined on the website for each modality.

Joining Live and/or Recorded Classes

You are welcome to join in any classes that are available as part of your membership. There is a mix of live classes and recorded content.

Timetable

Although there is a regular timetable, EmbodiMe reserves the right to cancel or change classes without notice.

Live class changes and/or cancellations

Regular classes may be put on hold with notice or cancelled without notice during certain times of the year, such as school holidays, public holidays, festive seasons, professional development, staff leave and/or illness. Previous recordings may be put into the timetable in their place. Sometimes the space may be left empty.

Playlists

Some classes have Spotify playlists that the teachers create. The teacher will let you know if they are using a playlist and how to search for it on their Spotify account.

Technical issues

All classes are streamed through Zoom. When you participate in the class from your house, Zoom is playing the class through your Wi-Fi, which means that if you are having connection issues it is most likely to be a Wi-Fi issue at your end. We do constant site maintenance to ensure that we are providing the best product possible. However, some technical issues are inevitable and others are outside of our control. Please let us know if there is something that could be improved. We do not provide refunds for occasional technical issues but will credit you for any extra attendance you have purchased that you are unable to complete due to technical issues that are EmbodiMe’s responsibility.

In-studio classes/courses/workshops & Retreats

In-studio offerings and retreats each have their own terms of engagement and refund policies.

Trauma Informed Practice

All classes and courses with Liz are Trauma Informed. Liz is trauma trained, has studied Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and is completing a Masters in Counselling. If you have experienced trauma, please consult your therapeutic practitioner before undertaking any new practice. Some participants find one:one sessions really helpful to their online practice. If you feel like you need one:one sessions please contact [email protected].

In agreeing to these terms and conditions, you agree to take responsibility for your safety and comfort when engaging in EmbodiMe practises, and acknowledge that although Liz McComish and all practitioners will provide their best teaching and support efforts, ultimately, you will take care of your own health and safety and ensure you seek help when you need to.
